How to defeat Composer from reformatting pre contents?

NNTP-Posting-Host:  206.169.234.165

I'm hoping for help with a Mozilla preference setting or workaroound.

It looks like Composer always changes the format of the contents of
existing
tags when it saves a file. In particular it will put
the entire contents of
tags onto a single line and insert
elements where the newlines were. Of course if the
 contents are
any decent length this makes it very difficult to edit the html source
with a text editor. (I'm one of several folks on my team who prefer to
edit html source directly but a couple of people are using Mozilla).

For example:
start
    middle
end
Becomes
start
middle
end
It does this by default with some other elements too (
,
), however if you set the Composer preference "Retain original source formatting" it leaves them alone [= setting user_pref("editor.prettyprint", false)]. But that preference setting does not appear to fix the behavior with
 elements - Mozilla still
reformats them.

Does anyone know a way to defeat this behavior, with a hidden
preference setting or something similar?

Thanks.
