Client side image map strange behaviour when using CSS on the

I've got a website with an image map to create a navigation menu. As long
as I don't apply any CSS on the image, it acts as it should. I'd like to
position the with some CSS, but as soon as I do the map is broken:
only the first works. The subsequent 's are completely
ignored.

I've tested this in Firefox 2.0.0.16, 3.0.3 and 3.1 and they behave exactly
alike.

The same code works as I'd expect in recent Opera-builds and IE7. It also
validates as XHTML 1.0 Strict and CSS 2.1 according to the W3C validator.

Could this be a bug in Firefox or am I completely missing something?

Here's the code:

This works as it should. Simply placing it in a
renders it useless in Firefox, without any CSS on the
even.
