I was with you up to the "paint it black".

It is currently painted white and throws back a lot of light from the 
bifold doors.

Currently we have fire resistant board covered by render.

I am now wondering if the metal mesh used to support external render would 
be enough to stop the cracking.

Area is roughly 1340 mm wide and 1470 mm high.
