intelligence - the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills

One translation - A person is capable of following/executing what was
learned.  But, a different way of understanding a topic may be
forbidden.  Point - A textbook "thinker" only understands/accepts the
textbook view.

Example - "Joseph Lister found a way to prevent infection in wounds
during and after surgery," but his view was initially rejected.
